FURNACES
Q: Should I do anything to my furnace besides cleaning or replacing the filter?
A: Yes. You should read your owners manual. Every time you do your filter you should check your gas connections & flue venting. Safety first!
SAFETY MONITORS
Q: Should I have a carbon monoxide detector?
A: Yes, and read the owners manual. It may only be good for a few years.
Q: Does my electronic thermostat ever need new batteries?
A: Yes! Just like your smoke detector, you should replace them annually.
Q: Do all furnaces have standing pilot lights?
A: No. Most new furnaces do not have pilot lights.
A/C
Q: Should I cover my A/C in the winter time?
A: It's up to you. It will keep it looking nicer for longer, but don't forget to uncover it.
Q: Should I do anything to my A/C before I start it at the beginning of the summer?
A: Yes. The manufacturer recommends a check up annually on your A/C unit. A thorough clean & check will save your utility bill and increase the life of your A/C unit.
FILTERS
Q: How often should I clean or change my filter?
A: As often as needed. The manufacurer recommends once a month. Some filters say every three months. My filter claims it will last one year. There are washable filters that will really start to loose their effiency after one month. You really need to check it monthly and replace or clean as often as needed. I have to replace my filter every six months.
